Setting up the charger app on install day — Ohme, Zappi, Hypervolt, Wallbox

By 5 min read

Every current row in our catalogue is marked app (41 of 41). Have the home Wi-Fi name and password if you want pairing done while the electrician is there. Follow the manufacturer app for that exact SKU. We do not publish a button-hold, QR, or firmware path as if it fitted every unit.

They should leave you able to open that app and see a live session, not a blank pairing screen. A green LED is not the same thing. What actually happens on install day is the electrical sequence. This page is only the app.

Get a quote. We pass the enquiry to opted-in OZEV-authorised electricians. We do not promise a number of quotes, a reply time, or a public installer list. Pairing is not a ChargerFit product.

Four brand names are not the whole app list

Ohme, Zappi, Hypervolt, and Wallbox are brands, not single SKUs. Every current catalogue row is marked app, including Pod Point Solo 3. Six brand names are not the whole list either.

Do not treat “Ohme”, “Zappi”, “Hypervolt”, or “Wallbox” as one box.

Head-to-heads: Ohme Home Pro vs MyEnergi Zappi, Zappi vs Hypervolt, Wallbox vs Easee. We do not pick a winner from an app badge.

Catalogue From figures are hardware RRP, not a fitted total. A pairing clock or that the electrician always finishes the account are not quoted here.

What to have ready

How to prepare the house is the board and the bay. For the app, have:

Do not assume that every SKU uses the same radio, or that pairing always needs your home Wi-Fi. The maker’s instructions for that unit are the source. If the electrician cannot finish pairing, they should say so before they leave. That is their call, not a ChargerFit SLA.

The shorter checklist is the before-you-book list.

Pairing is not a factory reset

A first-time account is pairing. A factory reset lives in the same app later and can wipe schedules, pairing, and tariff links. How to reset an EV charger is that split. We do not publish a button-hold sequence.

If the unit stays dark, that is not working, not an app-setup problem. A session that starts but draws less than you expected is often an app current cap or a tariff window — charging slowly.

App settings are not the grant

An app is an acceptable user interface under the Smart Charge Points Regulations 2021. The owner may still choose not to download it. The unit must still charge if the communications link dies.

Off-peak scheduling and surplus-PV modes sit in the app when those catalogue flags apply. They are not a grant checkbox.

Ask the electrician to say whether Eco / surplus setup or a tariff link is included. That should be a quote line if you asked for it.

What this page does not state

How it works is the matching path. You book and pay the electrician. Compare itemised lines if more than one opted-in installer replies. There is no ChargerFit SLA that you will get three quotes.

An app account is not a grant approval. From 1 April 2026 the live GOV.UK chargepoint schemes pay up to £500 per socket (75% of the cost, capped at £500). Funding is confirmed until 31 March 2027. See current GOV.UK rules and who still qualifies.

Do not have the charger installed until OZEV has confirmed you are eligible. A row in our catalogue is not a grant approval.
