Tell us the fault and we pass the enquiry to opted-in OZEV-authorised electricians. They diagnose, quote and book with you. Whoever fitted the unit. There is no promised callout time.
If your charger isn't behaving, the cause is often one of these six. Tell us which sounds like yours and we will pass the enquiry to an opted-in electrician. We do not diagnose it ourselves.
Won't power on, no LED indicators, completely unresponsive. Home checks first: breaker, app, cable. Then book a callout.
DIAGNOSE THIS →Flashing red lights, fault codes on display, charging interrupted mid-session. Usually firmware, earth fault or temperature trip.
DIAGNOSE THIS →Frayed cables, damaged connectors, melted plastic on the gun. Safety risk — book a callout straight away, don't keep using.
DIAGNOSE THIS →Won't pair with phone, Wi-Fi keeps dropping, scheduling broken, charging-tariff sync stopped. A factory reset lives in the maker’s app, not a generic blog sequence. Then book a callout if the session still will not start.
DIAGNOSE THIS →A session that starts but draws less than you expected. Check the car’s onboard AC limit, the app current cap, and any tariff window before you assume the unit is broken. Do not assume this is usually a load-balancing misconfig.
DIAGNOSE THIS →Fuse box trips when charging starts, or the RCD will not stay on. Isolate first. Do not keep resetting it. A usual cause is not stated here. Read: why a charger trips the fuse box.
DIAGNOSE THIS →Submit the fault, we pass it to an opted-in local electrician, they quote and book with you. Reply times vary. We do not promise a 48-hour fix.
Tell us what's wrong via our quick form. Include photos or short videos of any error codes, melted cables, or warning lights.
An opted-in OZEV-authorised electrician covering your postcode gets the enquiry. They quote diagnosis, parts and labour. Reply times vary.
You book and pay the electrician. They service common UK home brands — Ohme, Zappi, Andersen, Pod Point and others. We do not publish a first-visit success rate.
Whoever fitted the unit, opted-in OZEV-authorised electricians can often still look at it. We do not claim every brand, or that the original fitter is always available.
We do not publish a ChargerFit price list. The electrician itemises diagnosis, parts and labour. You see their quote before work starts.
| Service | What's covered | Price |
|---|---|---|
Diagnostic callout |
On-site fault diagnosis. Ask whether that visit is credited if you then book the repair with the same electrician. | Quoted |
Software / app fixes |
The electrician may quote remote or on-site app and firmware work. We do not run a ChargerFit remote-support desk. | Quoted |
Component repair |
Replace faulty contactors, RCDs, displays, PCBs, communication modules. Includes fitting. | Quoted |
Cable replacement |
Tethered cable swap with a new Type 2 connector, if the manufacturer still supplies that part. Length is whatever they quote. | Quoted |
Annual service |
Some manufacturers and installers offer an inspection. There is no ChargerFit annual-service product or published checklist. | Quoted |
Full replacement |
When repair isn't economical, install a new unit (existing wiring + bracket reused where possible). | Quoted |
There is no ChargerFit annual-service product. Some manufacturers and installers offer inspections. Whether that is worth it depends on the unit, the weather exposure, and the warranty terms they actually wrote.
Disconnect the power at your consumer unit immediately and keep clear of the unit. Then send the repair form or call the office. We do not run a 24/7 dispatch line.

If a replacement unit makes more sense than a repair, live GOV.UK chargepoint grants of up to £500 per socket may apply for renters, flat owners, some on-street households, and landlords. You apply on GOV.UK. Do not install before OZEV confirms eligibility.
From 1 April 2026 the cap is £500 per socket, not £350. Renters, flat owners, some on-street households, and landlords. Check GOV.UK before anyone orders a replacement unit.
