Five steps,
from enquiry
to install.

01

Tell us about your home

Send your postcode, the car you drive (or are about to), and where it will park. No account needed.

Snap two photos

One photo of your fuse box (consumer unit), one of where you'd like the charger mounted. That is often enough for a first look at the cable run and the board. Some jobs still need a visit — that is the electrician's call.

We pass it on

We’ll pass your enquiry to local OZEV-authorised installers covering your postcode. They reply with their own itemised quotes. We do not promise a number of quotes or a reply time.

Install & certification

The electrician you book arrives with the unit, fits it, and tests the circuit. Visit length depends on the cable run and the board. They should leave you with a BS 7671 certificate. DNO notification and any grant filing sit with them, not with ChargerFit.

What sits with the
electrician you book.

We pass the enquiry on. We do not sell a standardised kit or a ChargerFit warranty. A proper quote should still cover the items below — ask if any are missing.

OZEV-authorised installerWe only pass work to opted-in OZEV-authorised electricians. We ask for NICEIC or NAPIT on the installer application. There is no 12-month re-audit SLA.
BS 7671 18th Edition certificationThe electrician should email a minor works certificate after the visit. That sits with them, not with us.
Cable run as a line itemLength and route change the price. It should be itemised, not bundled into a mystery total.
Protection on the quoteA home wallbox usually needs residual-current protection the electrician specifies. We do not ship a Type-A RCBO kit.
DNO notificationThe installer notifies the Distribution Network Operator. Some jobs are connect-and-notify; some need apply-to-connect first.
Warranty from the people who did the workUnit cover is the manufacturer's. Workmanship cover is whatever that electrician offers. We do not issue a 3-year ChargerFit warranty.
App setupWhere the charger has an app, ask if they will help pair it. Not every visit includes that.
OZEV grant filingWhere you qualify, you apply on GOV.UK first. The installer claims after OZEV confirms eligibility. The cap is £500 per socket from 1 April 2026, not £350.
COMPARE / 03

The old way
vs. ChargerFit.

We pass the enquiry to opted-in OZEV-authorised electricians. We do not run a marketplace or sit in the middle of the job. Quotes online vs an installer directory is that split.

— DOING IT YOURSELF

Finding an OZEV electrician cold.

  • You chase callbacks and try to compare unlike quotes.
  • A phone estimate can change once they see the board.
  • Grant eligibility is easy to get wrong if you install first.
  • Certificate, DNO notification, and warranty sit with whoever you booked.
  • Aftercare is whoever you can still get hold of.
+ THE CHARGERFIT WAY

We pass your enquiry on.

  • Itemised quotes from the electrician, usually from photos of the board and parking place.
  • We pass your enquiry to opted-in OZEV-authorised installers. Reply times vary. We do not promise three quotes.
  • If a grant applies, you apply on GOV.UK before anyone drills a hole.
  • Certificate and DNO notification sit with the installer you book.
  • No deposit, no escrow, no public installer directory.
