Ohme Home Pro vs MyEnergi Zappi — which home EV charger for a typical UK house?
Both the Ohme Home Pro and the MyEnergi Zappi are 7.4 kW Type 2 smart wallboxes in our catalogue. Most UK houses are single-phase, so a 7.4 kW unit is the usual driveway rating. That is the house supply, not a reason to pick one brand.
We do not rank “which is better”. Both rows are now marked solar and app. The useful split is the tariff-API / OCPP / load-balancing flags and the includes-install From figure on Home Pro, versus the UK-made flag and the printed 6.5 m lead on Zappi.
A catalogue From figure is not a fitted total for every driveway. Where our data prints including standard installation, that is still not a labour quote for your cable run. Payback from a printed spread, a pence-per-kWh rate, or a typical UK fitted price are not quoted here.

What the catalogue actually says
Both rows, last verified 19 October 2026:
- Ohme Home Pro — catalogue From £999 including standard installation, 7.4 kW, tethered only, printed 5 m lead, app, solar, load balancing, OCPP, octopus-compatible, tariff APIs: Octopus, IP55, 3-year warranty, OZEV residential-eligible. Not marked UK-made. The catalogue title is Ohme Home Pro Tethered.
- MyEnergi Zappi — catalogue From £779, 7.4 kW, tethered only, printed 6.5 m lead, app, solar, UK-made, 3-year warranty, OZEV residential-eligible. Not marked load balancing or OCPP. No tariff-API line and no IP rating in our data.
The socketed sibling is MyEnergi Zappi Untethered (same From £779, 7.4 kW, solar, UK-made, last verified 19 October 2026). It is a different catalogue row. Do not treat “a Zappi” as one SKU. Tethered vs untethered is the driveway, not a brand ranking.
The Zappi tagline in our copy is UK-built in Lincolnshire. The Home Pro tagline names a 5 m Type 2 lead and Octopus tariff sync. Those are catalogue lines, not a lab comparison.
Do not subtract £779 from £999 and call that a hardware saving. One figure includes standard installation in the manufacturer line; the other is a hardware RRP. Ask which flags the job actually needs.
Tariff APIs are not surplus-PV
If you want the octopus-compatible flag, Home Pro is the Ohme row this page compares with Zappi. It is not the only octopus-compatible catalogue row. On the current snapshot, 4 of 54 current rows carry that flag: Home Pro, Ohme ePod, Indra Smart Pro, and Octopus Charge. Andersen Quartz and Hypervolt Home 3 Pro list Intelligent Octopus Go under tariff APIs without that feature flag. Head-to-head on the two Ohme SKUs: Home Pro vs ePod. Head-to-head on Home Pro versus Octopus Charge: Octopus Charge vs Ohme Home Pro. Head-to-head on the two Hypervolt SKUs: Home 3 vs Home 3 Pro. See smart energy tariffs.
Zappi is marked app. An app schedule can still put a session into an off-peak window if you set it. That is not the same as a tariff-API line that names Octopus.
A catalogue flag is not Octopus’s live charger list. Check the tariff with the supplier. A pence-per-kWh rate or a payback in months are not quoted here.
Head-to-head on Home Pro vs Solo 3: Pod Point vs Ohme.
Solar is marked on both
Both rows are marked solar. A solar mark means surplus-PV / Eco modes when the installer fits the clamps and you ask for those settings. It is not a grant checkbox, not an MCS certificate, and not an export-tariff product. We do not print a “% of your generation that goes into the car”.
EV chargers and solar panels is the matching page. On the current snapshot, 43 of 54 current rows are marked solar. Filter Solar diversion on the catalogue rather than treating Zappi as the only surplus-PV box, or treating Home Pro as “not solar”.
Do not treat “Ohme” or “Zappi” as one SKU:
- Ohme ePod is a different Ohme row (last verified 19 October 2026): catalogue From £949 including standard installation, 7.4 kW, untethered only, app, solar, load balancing, OCPP, octopus-compatible, tariff APIs: Octopus, OVO, British Gas, IP54, 3-year warranty, OZEV residential-eligible.
- Zappi Glow is a different MyEnergi row (last verified 19 October 2026): catalogue From £599, 7.4 kW, tethered only, printed 6.5 m lead, app, solar, load balancing, UK-made, 3-year warranty, OZEV residential-eligible. Not marked OCPP. No tariff-API line in our data. The socketed sibling is Zappi Glow Untethered at the same From £599.
Head-to-head on Zappi and Hypervolt: Zappi vs Hypervolt. The printed 5 m and 6.5 m leads are the attached cable, not the run from the consumer unit — 5 m vs 7.5 m.
Load balancing and OCPP are different extras
Home Pro is marked load balancing. Zappi is not. Glow and ePod are marked. Load balancing is a supply-limit feature, not surplus-PV and not a tariff API. On the current snapshot, 47 of 54 current rows are marked load balancing. The seven that are not: Zappi, the untethered Zappi, Pod Point Solo 3, Andersen A2, Octopus Charge, Tesla Wall Connector, and Charge Amps Halo. See load balancing on a UK domestic supply.
Home Pro is marked OCPP. Zappi is not. Losing OCPP is not the same as losing the legal minimum smart functions. New private wallboxes sold in Great Britain still have to be smart — see smart vs dumb.
Home Pro prints IP55 in our data. Zappi has no IP rating in our data. An IP rating is weather sealing on that SKU, not a planning rule and not a reason to treat Zappi as indoor-only.
What a useful quote should name
Ask for the exact catalogue model — “an Ohme” or “a Zappi” is not enough, because ePod is a different box from Home Pro and Glow is a different box from Zappi. Home Pro is the tethered 5 m Ohme row; the socketed Ohme is ePod. Zappi and Glow each have a tethered row and a socketed sibling. Then the cable run they priced, whether consumer-unit work is included or excluded, whether CT clamps or tariff / app setup are included if you asked for those modes, certification, DNO notification, and VAT. What to expect from the quote is the list.
The Home Pro From figure includes standard installation in the manufacturer line. The Zappi From figure is a hardware RRP. Neither is a fitted total for every driveway. A typical UK fitted price, or a “fair spread” between these two brands, is not quoted here.
How it works is the matching path. You book and pay the electrician. Compare itemised lines if more than one opted-in installer replies. There is no ChargerFit SLA that you will get three quotes.
Grants are a separate check
A tariff-API wallbox is not automatically grant-eligible, and a solar-marked wallbox is not a solar grant. From 1 April 2026 the live GOV.UK chargepoint schemes pay up to £500 per socket (75% of the cost, capped at £500). Funding is confirmed until 31 March 2027. See current GOV.UK rules and who still qualifies.
Do not have the charger installed until OZEV has confirmed you are eligible. Both of these rows are marked OZEV residential-eligible on the 19 October 2026 snapshot. A row in our catalogue is not a grant approval.

What this page is not
- A winner SKU, a “better value” claim from the printed spread, or a payback
- A hardware-only RRP for Home Pro, or an includes-install figure for Zappi
- A p/kWh saving, Octopus’s live charger list, or a grant approval
- A promised number of quotes, a reply time, or a public installer list
