What happens after you submit a ChargerFit quote request

By 3 min read

We pass the enquiry to opted-in OZEV-authorised electricians covering your postcode. They may reply with an itemised quote, or they may not. There is no fee, no deposit, no escrow, and no promised reply time.

That is the whole post-submit product. ChargerFit does not issue the quote. The electrician does. We do not promise three quotes, a callback, or a 24-hour inbox.

Get a quote. Repair for a charger you already have is a different form on the repair page.

What we do with the form

The quote form asks for contact details, the postcode, the car, a preferred charger if you have one, and a few facts about the property. We pass that pack to local installers who have opted in and who cover that postcode.

Photos of the consumer unit with the cover off, and of where the car parks, help a first look at the cable run. Some jobs still need a visit. That is the electrician’s call, not a ChargerFit product. Do not assume that every enquiry is priced from photos alone.

How many people see the enquiry, and how fast they reply, depends on who has opted in. We do not publish a public installer list. We do not take a holding deposit or sit in the middle of payment. Quotes online vs an installer directory is that split.

How ChargerFit works for homeowners is the shorter product page. How it works is the same path as five steps.

What you should hear back — if anyone replies

A useful reply names the charger model, the cable run they priced, protective devices, whether consumer-unit work is included or excluded, certification, DNO notification, VAT, and anything they will not do. A vague “7 kW unit, subject to survey” is not enough to compare.

What to expect from the quote is that list. Catalogue From figures on the charger catalogue are hardware RRP, not a fitted total.

If more than one opted-in installer replies, compare those itemised lines. There is no ChargerFit SLA that you will get three quotes. If nobody replies, that is coverage, not a queue we can escalate on a timer.

What happens if you book

You deal with the electrician you choose: price, date, and payment. They should issue a BS 7671 certificate and handle DNO notification. Visit length depends on the cable run and the board. What actually happens on install day is that sequence.

We do not sell you the wallbox, run escrow, or issue a ChargerFit workmanship warranty. Unit cover is the manufacturer’s. Workmanship cover is whatever that electrician offers.

What we will not promise

If you want reviews or credentials, ask the electrician they send you. We do not import star ratings.

Grants are a separate check

A quote is not a grant approval. From 1 April 2026 the live GOV.UK chargepoint schemes pay up to £500 per socket (75% of the cost, capped at £500). Funding is confirmed until 31 March 2027. See current GOV.UK rules and who still qualifies.

Do not have the charger installed until OZEV has confirmed you are eligible.
